Childbirth is a normal process that the newborn needs to experience to prepare them for the outside world. The compression and torsion on the head and neck are all necessary. Caesarean sections remove this normal birth process and can be traumatic for baby, as they have no preparation and warning of the outside world. Surgical intervention with forceps or ventouse also creates abnormally high stresses on the baby’s head and neck.
This can lead to many uncomfortable symptoms for the newborn. As your professional chiropractor, we will assess your baby’s spine and head for abnormal motion and distortion. When present, this can be helped with fingertip pressure to relax muscle tension. Most babies sleep through this process as it is so gentle.
